Right turn on red endangers people walking, rolling, and biking at intersections, where they are already less safe. But what about GHG emissions? “The savings in emissions and travel times has always been wildly overstated.” @schlthss #VisionZero

"But it’s not the responsibility of government employees or the government to keep those businesses afloat, and that shouldn’t be an argument that decides the fate of remote work." 💯

Just to be clear, the WHO thinks we’re heading for a mass disabling event. “An estimated one in 10 infections results in post-Covid conditions suggesting that hundreds of millions of people will need longer term care” #SARSCoV2

Approximately 40% of covid infections cause NO symptoms, so anytime we go into a public place unmasked, the risk of spreading covid is very real. Save a life--maybe yours. Stop sharing air. Wear an N95 mask. Please feel free to share this. Ann McNitt, BSN RN

Here’s your reminder that millions of Canadian children grew up watching and loving a gender fluid puppet for decades.

Long, but deeply satisfying read for all those who were super hopeful for a decent transit solution in Ottawa, and then brutally disappointed by what we were hoodwinked by Watson to actually get.
Canada’s sleepy capital city had big dreams for a transit system that would rival those of London and Paris. Then it all went terribly wrong. #OttawaLRT

When anyone says that government debt is bad and we must do everything we can to reduce it, it’s scare tactics. Don't drink the koolade. 4/5

Politicians & media with a political agenda have drawn false parallels between household debt and government debt. Government debt can be rolled-over; as bonds come due, they are replaced with new bonds. Households can’t do that because people die so lenders won't let them. 3/5

BREAKING: A new report by Ontario's Financial Accountability Office has found the Ontario government is underspending on healthcare by $21.3 billion. They're underfunding our public healthcare system so they can implement private for-profit healthcare. Don't let them fool you.

4-day work week is being studied broadly with consistent results: employers who allow it for employees, at the same pay, requiring the same output, see productivity + revenues increase. Combine this with the hybrid workplace and we could really give the long commute the boot.

Mornin' @JustinTrudeau. As you meet with premiers on healthcare, know that, as a tax-payer, I want strings attached to the $$ they receive. I want open reporting on what they $$ is being spent on. And I want it made clear that none of my tax $$ go to private anything. #Strings

So, are @psac_afpc @PIPSC_IPFPC etc thinking about a RTO action? Jus' sayin'...maybe ALL public servants should be encouraged to try to report to an office on, say, Jan 17th, & see what happens when it's complete chaos, & there aren't enough desks and no one gets anything done...

This is going to negatively impact so many systemically marginalized groups in the GC but I'm most concerned about our colleagues who have Disabilities. I don't think any group is going to be as adversely affected by this decision. Please look out for your colleagues.
