Everyone deserves access to key building blocks of good mental health, like safe childhoods & financial security. @mentalhealth are right that we must work across govt to improve the publicās mental health; Iām proud that our Labour govt is working in a joined up way to do that.

Thanks to the young people and parents who came with @AmbitiousAutism to speak to us in Parliament about the challenges autistic pupils face in the education system. One particular concern is wait times for diagnosis, which I raised in Parliament last week.

Community groups across the constituency put a lot of time and effort into supporting Fairtrade - particularly in Alsager thanks to the work of Margaret Keeling and others - so I was pleased to drop in to this event in Parliament.

There is an under-recognised problem of people on health & care sector visas being treated terribly, forced to work hugely excessive hours, not allowed to leave the homes in which they work for extended periods, and sometimes hardly paid - I raised this in Parliament recently.

Thanks so much to everyone who met with me yesterday to share your expertise about how we tackle child poverty. We have so many experienced, well-informed people in the constituency working hard to improve the lives of children and young people - thank you for allĀ thatĀ youĀ do.

Thanks @mtpennycook for making time to discuss the Government's plans for leasehold reform. Change can't come soon enough for many people in my constituency - don't forget to get in touch on sarah.russell.mp@parliament.uk to share your experiences of leaseholdĀ andĀ freehold.

Thanks so much to the headteachers of primary schools and high schools from across the constituency, for meeting me to discuss everything from holiday hunger and SEND to teaching assistant recruitment. Have a restful weekend!

I'm a huge supporter of the free breakfast clubs we will be rolling out in primary schools across the UK, but ensuring every child can access healthy food starts much earlier. Thanks @ChrisWebbMP for this important debate in which I raised the need for better babyfood regulation.

Many people have spoken to me about trains through the constituency - including problems with Sunday services, and the fact that the last trains back into Congleton are so early. I raised these with Northern's Chief Exec and will make sure the Transport Secretary is aware too.

I'm keen to know if any other managing agents are causing similar problems - if you're a leaseholder in the constituency having difficulties with a managing agent get in touch on sarah.russell.mp@parliament.uk.
Residents of Bath Vale in Congleton have made it clear to me that the standard of service and communication they receive from FirstPort does not justify the significant rise in their service charge. I'm looking forward to holding FirstPort to account on constituents' behalf.

Itās so important that care workers have the training and support they need to properly care for people with dementia. It was great to attend @alzheimerssocās event and hear from people with lived experience, and from @SKinnock on the future of adult social care.

Yesterday I was pleased to join my colleague Andrew Cooper in meeting with Lillian Greenwood to lobby for money to be allocated to the Middlewich Bypass. We re-stated the business case and economic benefits and together we will continue to push for this important scheme.

As a regular train user, I have noticed the lack of availability of weekend services. I have written to Northern Rail about the problem. I spoke with their staff in Parliament at an event hosted by the the Rail Delivery Group. 1/2

Sewage spills in Congleton doubled in 2023, over 7,600 hours of pollution! Labour is taking action. The new Independent Water Commission will clean up our rivers and hold water companies accountable. I recently met with the Canal & River Trust to talk to them about their work.

We had a lovely family visit to Holmes Sweet Home in Holmes Chapel last weekend and I treated the children to their fantastic milkshakes. It was fantastic to hear that their business is growing and theyāre moving to larger premises shortly. I wish them every success.
