The NHS needs more very senior leaders like @sarahwollaston who will actually lead & turn around and say “no I can’t do that, it’s not safe, it’s a cut too far” Thank you Sarah for speaking truth to power Wishing many others would #bemoresarah

With regret I have decided to resign as chair of NHS Devon. Thank you to all the wonderful NHS, care and voluntary sector teams that are out there doing their very best in challenging circumstances. Did not feel able to sign off on a further cut; elastic already stretched too far

Over 50% of hospital inpatients are over 75; not every patient can be "TCI med eld" unless 50% of other specialists are volunteering for redundancy. Even if you're not going to have an operation or intervention you still need specialist care #medicsnottechnicians

If you refuse to take an appropriately referred patient, demand the emergency department then refer elsewhere, then demand the other specialty consultant ring your consultant to explain why they won’t take your rejected referral. You can kindly fuck off.

If you refer a patient to Geriatric Medicine today, “Med/Spec fit please take over care”. When i come to the ward I am going to embarrass you and show you how unfit they are and all the ailments you have failed to identify & remedy #warned

Just my occasional reminder that being a Clinical Lead in a specialty in an #NHS Trust is an almost impossible job. Trade Union leader and Line Manager. Two masters with often very different needs and you’re stuck in the middle. Did it for three years: it almost killed me.
