BC’s Minister of Forests, Deputy Government House Leader, Chair of Canada’s Council of Forest Ministers, MLA for Langford-Highlands.
Langford, British Columbia
Joined February 2024
At home in Langford, families have been calling for affordable child care in schools. It’s a need, not a want. So we’re working to bring child care spaces into our schools. Using what we already have, and working with parents and districts, ensuring a smooth system. #bcpoli

Let’s be clear about what Alberta is proposing: BC loses billions of dollars of major projects from private investors. AND Canadian taxpayers are forced to pay billions more because there is no interest from a private company. That’s not fair & fairness is a Canadian value.

Thanks to @COFI_INFO for coming to speak with govt about the challenges facing our sector. Tough days are ahead, no question, but by working together we can protect jobs, support workers, and build a stronger, more resilient future for forestry in BC. #ForestryBC #bcpoli

We’re taking more time to engage on the transformation of the Heritage Conservation Act. Getting it right matters. It’s about protecting heritage more effectively, helping communities rebuild faster, and ensuring First Nations have a role in decisions about their heritage.

(1/3) Delayed payments cause harm. The prompt payment legislation announced today provides clear timelines, along with a fast-tracked adjudication process so that payment related disputes can be resolved quickly and fairly.

Did you know its Fire Prevention Week? @GordJohns did. He stayed late in the House to show his support for a federal aerial firefighting fleet. Something we need in Canada, as we work together more and more on wildfire. I’m right there with Gord in this advocacy. #BCWildfire

BC has billions in shovel-ready projects ready to go. Instead of real jobs for our province, the BC Conservatives are standing up for themselves, infighting and Alberta politics. We’ll continue to ignore the noise and deliver for this province and country.

My husband and I picked up our grandchildren from school when they were little because their parents were at work. We cherished this time with them. But most working parents don’t have this kind of back up. I support this legislation that will make back up more collective.
Most parents don’t work 9-3 and may end up scrambling to pick up their kids after school. We’ve introduced legislation that, if passed, would allow school districts to offer seamless child care before and after school, on school grounds.

Big news for B.C. families 💙 Today, I introduced legislation that will make it easier for school districts to offer #ChildCareOnSchoolGrounds — so parents can find quality care in the same safe, familiar places where their kids learn & grow. #ChildCareBC #BCSchools #BCKids

The federal government needs to step up and expedite programming to get relief to workers, contractors, and communities now — not months from now. We’re not going to stand by — we’re going to stand up to Trump. #cdnpoli #ForestryBC
