Front-End Engineer on the React Apps team @meta, building https://t.co/SMRTn9aRjg and other cool stuff
Atlanta, GA

We wrote a post about some of the technical aspects of the new Facebook redesign for web, built with React and Relay! Check it out!
We're introducing the new https://t.co/t0PZL74vjg website built using the @Reactjs family of technologies. Announced at F8 2019, this will be the web experience globally - it’s faster, easier to use, and gives your eyes a break w/ Dark Mode: https://t.co/WWGG6cOwk7 🧵👇

You know I'd really love to switch over to bluesky but I'm still on the waitlist. Not that I'm all that important or anything but it feels like if they wanted to take advantage of the situation, you'd think twitter's competition would try to open up a bit faster?

Is there any way to reliably detect if you're running inside of a "type="module"" WebWorker vs a "classic" WebWorker? The only way I can think of is calling importScripts and checking the error message, but that's not very robust... cc @_developit maybe?

When I was a kid I wanted to play Pokemon but didn't have a Gameboy, so I got an emulator and a ROM and played it on my PC. The ROM came with the player's name selected as "Sean". I had never met a Sean before and I was convinced it was pronounced like "seen".

Hi folks! I need some help🙏🏻 Anyone know companies offering internships or Jr Software Eng positions for someone transitioning into tech? They’re a math PhD, former professor, completed AppAcademy's self-taught program, and would be a great engineer. All leads/advice welcome🤗

Second kid is kinda like playing a game over but on a harder mode. On one hand you know exactly what's coming and you know all the mechanics and controls. On the other hand you have to do all this with a toddler who was already a (wonderful) handful at the same time.

Got my awesome @rometools swag box today! It's all super cool but the shirt is definitely a women's medium. If anyone wears a women's medium and wants this sweet @rometools shirt, let me know! Would happily send it to you for the cost of shipping! cc @sebmck @buildsghost

Nothing like spending literally days repeatedly setting up your dev environment keeping having to start over. I just want to actually build stuff. :(

Bought scissors on Amazon. What would have happened if I bought them because I didn't have any scissors?

Hard to get used to the new full bleed Twitter design on iOS. Every time I open the app it feels like I'm inside of a tweet thread view - but "swiping it away" just opens the menu because I'm actually on the timeline.

We don’t want rounded corners when the window is narrow enough for the cards to span the entire viewport, so we use the “Fab Four” technique to collapse the border-radius to zero conditionally.
While inspecting Facebook's CSS, I found that the border radius has a max() and min() CSS comparison function. This will compute to 8px / 8px in all cases. It's unclear why it's being used with such a large number (9999). Any thoughts? 🧐

I remember moving out to the Bay Area from Atlanta thinking everyone was so schlubby in their sweatpants everywhere. I moved back to Atlanta 4 years later and now I wear sweatpants everywhere. Definitely feel a little bit self conscious. But mostly just feel comfy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
