On one hand, "the religious right" as we know it was clearly ineffective, either unwilling or unable to hold frame on anything that mattered. But on the other hand, what we've seen of the "secular right" so far isn't encouraging and, in practice, means tolerating subversive.

"Rightist" by the standards of American liberals is basically anybody who would have been viewed as normal for most of history so, really, art was never made by anybody this guy would consider "not right-wing" until about 20 years ago.
Rightists don't make art. This is one reason the American right hasn't managed to create a counterculture, despite progressive cultural dominance.

This process is real, but isn't actually beneficial to the right because it results in dilution of any coherent message or platform. There's no alignment on "the right" because half of it is disaffected liberals. Meanwhile, the left grows more aligned as they purge dissenters.
