Given that citizens of all political persuasions agree that there is a real concern with standards in public life, and the importance of ensuring compliance with rules, I would respectfully ask @LBofBromley to consider whether its tweet complies with all relevant rules 6/n.

It has been suggested that there is no cost involved in sending a tweet; however, public money has been spent in drafting the tweet and the news item in the form of the time of staff working at the Council 5/n.

And that is what should have been done in relation to the ULEZ consultation, e.g., informing residents that there was a consultation, linking to it and perhaps even setting out the different views on the proposals. This was not done 4/n.

As the vast majority of the news section of the @LBofBromley website shows, it is entirely possible to publish important and informative items in an objective manner which enables the public to understand what is going on in their local area 3/n.

For those who are interested, the Code of Conduct for Councillors is at and the Code of Practice for local authorities relating to publicity is here 2/n.

So, I raised my concern about this tweet yesterday, and how both it, and the link, seemed to be using public resources for political purposes, as well as failing to be even-handed. @LBofBromley is yet to reply 1/n.
