As a pediatric immunologist, I get this question all the time “what did kids do before vaccines?” They died … by the millions. Parents in remote areas of the World walk days to vaccinate kids. Anti-VAxers display ignorance + fear + immense privilege and put us all at risk.

Go to an old cemetery. See all the baby graves from before the 1950s & 60s? After that, hardly any. That's when people started vaccinating their children against deadly childhood diseases. If you're unsure what to do to protect your kids, the answer is literally written in stone.

SCOTUS just allowed Idaho to throw health care providers in jail for providing emergency abortion care while they consider this case. This is a chilling reminder that the anti-abortion movement doesn’t care if women live or die—as long as they're forced to give birth.

Hello parents of little nuggets! As we plunge headfirst into respiratory virus season, I just want to remind you that Tylenol and ibuprofen are not just for fever, but also treat pain. Being sick sucks, and when things hurt, kids (just like us) don't want to eat or drink.

Amazing work by insurance companies and health systems and pharma to keep blame centered on doctors when our incomes account for only 8% of total costs. Admin costs are near 25% but somehow that’s ok🤦🏽‍♂️

@charliebilello Physicians in the US are grossly overpaid. All of the other explanations are a far smaller contributor than this simple fact.

I spoke with a solo family physician at a conference recently who said he tried to negotiate with UHC for a higher reimbursement and in response, they simply dropped him from their network. @UHC actively works to limit patient access to primary care.

The average doctor in the U.S. makes $350,000 a year. Why? https://t.co/PfGYHzseKF This just arrived in my inbox as a subscriber to WAPO. It's a doctor bashing special. They don't interview any doctors who might have helpful viewpoints, just economists. They got 5000 comments

Fitting that in a state where the governor is on a crusade to turn back the dial to the Middle Ages, that leprosy, a disease from the time of the Crusades, would suddenly start plaguing (quite literally) Florida.

It’s weird that leprosy is increasing, esp in Central Florida, which the CDC say account for 81% of reported cases in the state and almost one-fifth of all cases nationwide, with 34% of #leprosy locally acquired transmission. CDC says “leprosy has become endemic” in SE. Several

In 1985 in Africa 25 fully vaccinated children were compared with 25 children who did not have any vaccinations for a period of five years. Out of the 25 vaccinated children, only one child had mild measles while 4 had suspected whooping cough but not clinically diagnosed as
