The brush fire in the park's woodland Ravine is now extinguished. According to @FDNY, the fire engulfed a roughly two-acre area. We thank FDNY and its sister agencies who responded quickly to get the fire under control.
Please use caution in accessing the park. Open fires + smoking are prohibited in the park, and any fires should be reported immediately to 911. Prospect Park Alliance + @nycparks are assessing damage in the area impacted by the fire + will share with the community ways to help.

If you see a turtle on land this time of year, please do not touch or move it! It’s nesting season, when pregnant turtles journey to their egg laying location to nest. This is roughly the same place every year and may be up to half a mile away from the turtle’s aquatic home.
