@ProfRScolyerMIA
and how we are applying melanoma science to develop world-first treatments for his brain cancer.
When Professor Richard Scolyer was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer he had a choice – prepare for the worst or put his hand up to be patient zero.
It’s a high stakes experiment, using the very treatment Scolyer and his colleagues have pioneered for melanoma.

Our collaborative international research has demonstrated that many
#melanoma
patients have long-term benefit on adjuvant combination targeted therapy, & it may be curative in most of those patients. Taking us closer to reaching our goal of zero deaths from melanoma this decade.
At 5 years of follow-up, the 12-month use of adjuvant therapy with dabrafenib (a BRAF inhibitor) plus trametinib (a MEK inhibitor) in patients with stage III melanoma with BRAF V600 mutations resulted in relapse-free survival of 52%, as compared with 36% with placebo.
