Would I have joined this platform at the outset if it had been like this? No way. So perhaps we can rate biscuits, match fonts to the footballers whose spirit they most embody & list the clothing brands that were most likely to get you duffed up at school over on the other place.

Today feels like the perfect day to tell the story about how Stephen Duffy came to the attention of Robbie Williams and how I tried to cheer him up by quoting a Sting lyric at him.

I put together a playlist of music I was listening to in the 90’s, living on Avalon Road, Ealing and writing the Brian album Understand - now Understood on @needlemythology @petepaphides #SetantaRecords #NeedleMythology

33 years ago, Ken Sweeney sang his heartbreak into a tape machine and, in doing so, created a modest masterpiece of jingle-jangle mourning. I've loved this album ever since it came out and it's dream to be able to give it an expanded re-release on Needle Mythology. Out today.
UNDERSTOOD - the first ever re-issue of UNDERSTAND - the acclaimed 1992 debut album by BRIAN Out on August 29th, 'UNDERSTOOD' is available on CD, Vinyl and limited edition Teal Vinyl and can be pre-ordered from the official Needle Mythology store at @burningshednews

I honestly think it was a matter of historical importance that this was captured on film & I couldn't have let it pass without getting a proper film crew to do it. The gasps when James from The Sea Urchins walked on stage after a 30 year absence will stay with me forever.

Always argued Acquiesce was their best tune :) Great piece by @petepaphides Amazing how much energy the ‘angry young men’ story still (and forever will) encapsulates. And there’s plenty to say I imagine on its return now. a boxer’s triumphant comeback to looking-back crowds.
Thanks to @TheNewWorldmag for letting me go deep on #Oasis: on the disruptive power of their music; on the societal, gender & cultural faultlines they opened up. On how we process childhood trauma. And why Acquiesce is their best song.

@MatthewdAncona @oasis @petepaphides @TheNewWorldmag Here in France , our once influential music magazine Les Inrocks has just devoted a whole issue to Oasis and it comes nowhere near Pete ‘s article. I may even consider listening to their records right now . Powerful, insightful and utterly moving piece, Pete!

I hardly ever post here, but I'm at Glastonbury – and having seen & read some baffling hostility directed artists who delivered performances that made a lot of people very happy – it pains me that those same artists might be waking up this morning & somehow think they fucked it.

There's so much hostility in the world right now & I want to say that 99.9% of musicians who get on stage just want to make people happy. Let's not punish or shame them for that. They're not trying to trick you. And, at a festival, if you're not feeling it, you can just move on.
