non-English speakers are immortal because “kick the bucket” is idiomatic English
@hastifliche My point was more that “for X's sake” is an idiomatic phrase in English, and it doesn't make sense to look at “sake” alone, removed from its context. Why should we even consider the idea that “sake” in this phrase could ‘exist’ in the first place?

The argument for clear language is that it is a courtesy to our fellow humans to find common ground and build up from there. The argument against clear language is that the excrescence of posthumous digestion overdetermines the blandishments of particulated Being-seeming.

This is both an excellent brief breakdown of Kant and also a terrific explanation of why you can safely ignore Kant.
@TutorVals I unironically like Kant's work and I think he's right about a lot of things. But whether it'd be worth a non-philosopher's time to read him would depend on their interests. If you do read him, you have to give him quite a bit of undeserved latitude and have some faith that

Consciousness is the smallest and least important part of the mind. It is simply the contents of perception and thought immediately available to attention. Most mental life is unconscious.
