The government’s announcement yesterday on 25hr funded apprenticeships appears to to forget that there is no employment without thriving businesses, thats why hospitality needs urgent action on reducing business rates and VAT
In a debate on Extended Producer Responsibility, @DrNeilHudson emphasised the hospitality sector contributes £93 billion economically and is the third largest employer in the country. The tax burden must be shifted. EPR is adding to the cost crisis facing hospitality.

If this is the case someone earning 90k maybe with a young family and their partner looking after the house would be on the same nett income Is this correct?
Utterly insane A British family with 3 kids & at least 1 parent claiming average Universal Credit & other benefits, will receive up to £46,000 by next year A family where 1 adult is working full-time, and another part-time, on the national living wage, takes home £28,000

Unfortunately Alex the budget focus was all about keeping people in employment , keeping ordinary working politicians in a job.. Starmer and Reaves
The rates multiplier reduction is small beans and any saving is likely to be wiped out by the 2026 revaluation. This Govt is systematically destroying hospitality & retail businesses & in turn decimating our high streets & town centres. #hospitality

This is appalling... Electricity North West @ElectricityNW have decided to cut off power to some venues/bars in Manchester on Thursday 11th Dec...one of the busiest days in the run up to Xmas. No compensation. No help with generators. Why not do it in January when its quiet?

I am unsure of the total validity of the figures but I know hospitality employment is down by 100,000 @UKHospKate and growth, the new governments No1 objective is stagnant, so hard working people raising tax are probably are just working harder for less ?
Whoa! The number of people in the UK receiving jobless benefits without having to look for work has climbed above 4 million for the first time —up from 2.7 million when Labour came to power Labour = mass welfare paid for by the hardworking majority

I agree totally, the challenge is that the previous government didn’t seriously control national procurement and spending, and this one is doing the same but also increasing tax’s to pay for it
The UK pays one of the highest hospitality VAT rates in Europe, second only to Denmark, putting our industry at a disadvantage and making it harder for people to support their local businesses. We need action! Get involved in our #TaxedOut campaign: https://t.co/qckq3byP86

Pizza Hut is not a brand I know well but I feel sad for the 1210 losing their jobs at 68 restaurants. It is unlikely they will find employment elsewhere in hospitality we are already employing 80,000 less people since @RachelReevesMP disastrous Ni budget now 37 days to the next

All the below plus incredibly high food inflation cutting the red tape is really a red herring for the government to body swerve the changes and retain the tax income
@UKHospKate @nookandwillow @AjpOxford @UKHofficial Everyone understands the pressures facing hospitality, and pubs in particular. This isn’t the cure to those problems, but it is a welcome step towards pulling down some of the barriers that have held the sector back. Nobody is pretending it is a silver bullet. The deeper issues

Agree Gary @UKHospKate it may be a change that’s required however don’t be deceived it’s really a government red herring to say they are promoting growth and therefore avoid the necessary VAT NI and business rates changes, it’s an empty gift
Hello, Gary Usher here… The government have proposed an idea to “help” the hospitality industry by allowing longer opening hours. I feel it’s my duty to explain like others have, how insulting this is. There’s not a single operator I know that wants to open longer. The
