Dublin is a fantastic city with fantastic people.
But, boy, it can be rough.
Just want to shout out the driver of the 14 Dublin Bus who asked if I was ok after being surrounded by and hassled at a bus stop by a rather nasty crowd.
To the person who stole the live stream camera from St Ann’s, Dawson Street during Choral Mattins today, you left your baseball cap behind. If you’d like it back, come and see me. By the way, you’re forgiven. Just bring the camera back and all shall be well.
@Kristian7Ross
With the mark up on non-alcoholic drinks, they should be encouraging you to stay. And what does this say about their attitude to designated drivers?
Hello
@BrickFeile
! Thank you so much for displaying a Lego build of St Ann’s, Dawson Street. If you could put us in touch with the builder of this amazing model, we’d love to display it in St Ann’s!
Little phases me on this platform. But the videos of a dead woman being paraded as a trophy & the woman with blood soaked trousers being bundled into a car are shocking. Pray for the kidnapped. Pray for those killed. Pray for those caught in war. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
An absolute delight to meet former President Mary McAleese at St Ann’s, Dawson Street this evening.
When she was growing up, her family home growing up was next door to my grandpa’s rectory.
She told me so many funny stories about him and I was so pleased to hear them!
Who says today wasn’t varied?
1 - desk work
2 - celebrated Eucharist at St Ann’s
3 - committee meeting
4 - Diocesan Synod
*AND* met Kevin the Carrot on St Stephen’s Green🥕
With two of our readers at our Carol Service this evening. Great to welcome the Garda Commissioner, Mr Drew Harris, and former Taoiseach, Mr Bertie Ahern.
A cracking picture of the other church in my parish.
The Pepper Canister is 200 years old this year, and are very welcome to attend a service of Choral Evensong celebrating this milestone on the 24th June at 8pm.
I’ve not had the chance to head out for the rising full moon for months now, so was delighted to witness this last night - the Pink Moon rising behind Saint Stephen's Church, AKA the Pepper Canister, Upper Mount Street

"We must be respectful of each other. The days of second-class citizenship are long gone, and today confirms that they will never come back."
NI's FM Michelle O'Neill adds "This is an assembly for all. Catholic, Protestant and the centre".

on this, the day of Dean Jonathan Swift’s anniversary.
His epitaph reads: ‘Go, traveller, and imitate him if you can, a man who to his utmost championed liberty.’
Where were you baptised?
St Nicholas’, Carrickfergus in July 1981 by my grandfather, Canon James Arbuthnot.
The font in which I was baptised is said to have been damaged during the French Army’s occupation of Carrickfergus in January 1760.
I love train stations. A sense of bustle, going somewhere, and human life in all its richness. The architecture is always interesting. Airports somehow don’t have this magic 🚊 Heuston, Dublin
@IrishRail
is a favourite of mine.

Dawson Street, where I’m based, certainly is a symphony of human life! My scrape this evening was on that Aungier Street meets Wexford Street patch.
Calm and peace in the city centre:

legend. When I was the Rector of Cobh (Church of Ireland), I’d go to the games. Always a warm welcome from him. During the pandemic he texted me asking if there was anything he could do for our parishioners. Absolute icon, gent & legend.

The choir of St Ann’s, Dawson Street and the Con Tempo Quartet performing J.S. Bach this evening. They were superb - and this concert marks the end of our 300th anniversary celebrations.
@MichaelKellyIC
I’m with you, Michael. I don’t like clapping in church at all. Clapping is an acknowledgment of human achievement. The Mass / Eucharist isn’t about human achievement. It’s an offering to God and a profound acknowledgment of Divine work. It does not require applause.
