This is my husband's grandfather, Morris Koll, as a young US soldier in 1902. He contracted leprosy in the Philippines and as a result was later confined by his own government. His story was the genesis of mine.

Yes! This is public media at its finest and why these local stations are so crucial. Congress is in the process of trying to kill them.
A few hours ago, a magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck off the Alaska Peninsula, just south of Sand Point. Local residents and summer visitors alike were able to evacuate thanks to federal tsunami advisories relayed through local public broadcasting stations. That’s the real world.
