Used to smoke daily. Became Orthodox. Went to ROCOR. Spiritual father gave me the hard "no". Happy to say that I haven't smoked in a good long time and I recommend others to avoid it.

Had a ROCOR priest chrismate me in the OCA, but I left shortly after for a ROCOR parish. The creeping liberalism was apparent despite the traditionalists that I associated with. OCA and GOARCH are rapidly becoming a weird fusion of liberalism, papist, and Protestantism. No thanks

Unironically I was very into metal/alternative growing up. Eventually led me to classical and becoming big into history and my Roman Catholic upbringing. Classical video algorithm on YouTube led me to Orthodox chants. The rest was history.

Personal opinion here. I make enough to have a comfortable life as a single man. Western women provide me zero incentive to push further. I only work harder for my own savings and/or to help my father. It's a bit lonely, but I have my faith in God so I am happy. Them? Not so sure

These things take time. I didn't go from Trad Latin to Orthodox overnight. Studying the Councils, theology, Church Fathers, Saints, etc. all takes time and it took me many months(possibly a year) before I took the leap and went to a divine liturgy.

Comic is very true. Straight friends give me compliments or jokes and I get attention only from homosexuals or middle-aged women. Young women are just too much work and not worth the time. Self improvement of the soul, mind, and body is more than sufficient for young men.
