I've been listening to Wes Streeting and I hope I misunderstood him but the starting point of healthcare should NEVER be to boost corporate profits. The purpose of healthcare in a civilised society should always be for the good of people (all of the people).

And I don’t believe the fault of this lays at the door of the staff in the departments, or the execs/administrators in the hospitals. These are often good people working in a broken system. This is the result of systemic underfunding of health and social care over the last 14 yrs.

I am so tired of the narrative that healthcare disasters are "one-offs" and that it is one bad place that is the problem. Anyone telling you that the situation in dispatches is only happening in the hospital seen is either misguided or misleading. This is UK EM in many places.

Dispatches on C4 24/06 is going to be a difficult watch. Working in EM feels like a war and it brutalises many staff. Please remember these are caring professionals whose work environment prevents them doing the job they were trained to do, but they still come back day after day.
