When the light is right, if you stand back and look at a mass of these trees at once, it looks like a forest full of cat eyes looking back at you.

Every bird species has a song for each star visible in the sky. Shit, they probably have their own constellations.

As Florida spends $7B on 119 new highway lane miles, Disney World has a larger bus fleet than Orlando, Jacksonville & Gainesville combined. This leaves 3.5 million Floridians with less transit capacity than an amusement park shuttle system.

The thinner tree was cut years ago and the big one has been holding and feeding it since then. They "wake up" together in the spring and "go to sleep" together in the autumn. #Tiredearth #biodiversity

The Queen, a Northern Cardinal, was visiting the nature center parking lot this morning. She is finishing a suet nugget when she is startled by an Red-winged Blackbird. The growling after the Blackbird grabs a peanut is her informing him that she will be taking her spot back.

A lot of talk about English, Lit., and unions in response to Guillory Gate. But this from ACLA is fantastic. No professionalization w/o unionization. Unions as sites of literary criticism; unions for grad students; for profs; for UPs; if literary studies has a future, it's here.
