Having *major* FOMO that I couldn’t be there to deliver my former patient’s baby a few days ago, but delivered her last kiddo & got close during that pregnancy. We facetimed to see her new baby & her current doc walked into the room. A doc I trained who exclaimed “Ali!”🤣

Highlight of interview season: a @Delta flight attendant handing me an ENTIRE LITER of water because she saw me pumping mid-flight and “everyone knows you need it to make food for baby”. We love it when women support women ! 😍😍

We never talk about how jolting it is to get a message or call in the middle of your clinic and learn that a cherished patient has died. In healthcare, we often don't have a chance to pause in the middle of a day to process our grief. It gets caught up, with no where to go.

And frankly, I’d argue the opposite. It is such a BROAD field with so many barriers, seeing so much pain you cannot fix, knowing you will be underresourced and underpaid. It is HARD to choose this path, but I wouldn’t trade it or my patients for anything ❤️

One thing I will never understand is people who bash primary care and think it’s “easy.” I deliver babies. I navigate tough social barriers. I prevent disease and give patients quality of life. I have the hard conversations; I hold patients in pain. It’s a labor of love.
