Hey English teacher friends! This year in Creative Writing, I started a daily sentence study warm-up that I called Word Lab. It was the most beneficial 10 minutes of our class, hands down, and I want to share all of the resources I created with you! [thread!]

OK, so you’re live modelling. Maybe a section of an essay. Or a chunk of analysis. What *exactly* are your students doing as you do this?

Here’s an alternative anthology for the AQA P+C cluster. Includes 2 copies of each poem, prompts for analysis & QR codes for academic reading. Format and prompts by @__codexterous & review pages by @FunkyPedagogy. Both have kindly allowed me to share 😊 https://t.co/FeC9fsTsrg

Not allowed costumes, only props. My son spent an age on his 'The Day the Crayons Quit'. Currently too poorly to go in to school and show everyone. Poor little mite! Think he did a mega job #WorldBookDay @OliverJeffers @HarperCollinsCh @DrewDaywalt

The non-fiction ones proved popular so here’s some Lang P1 Q2 analysis resources like these👇, framing students’ thinking and writing, using what - how - why. Help yourself if they might be useful 😊 @Team_English1 https://t.co/SgapGCYhN5

I've knocked together 7 weeks of Lit revision tasks for my students. The tasks are designed to take about 15 minutes each and cover Macbeth, P&C and J&H. Feel free to copy, adapt, etc, etc.

@HeadofEnglish @curtaindsleep @__codexterous @johntomsett I love a Janus structure. Useful all the way from year 7 to 13. It really helps students with developing a great style and coherence.

In an attempt to narrow the word gap, made these Word Wizard cards for year 7 class. Idea is they get staff signatures during break & lunch for using the words correctly in a sentence. Very much a first draft so thoughts gratefully received @Team_English1

Poetry Teaching… Will be teaching this poem this week. My plan: 1️⃣ Read the poem twice 2️⃣ In pairs, what is the *story* of the poem and share 3️⃣ In pairs, what is it about thematically: what is it saying about relationships? 4️⃣ Read again, listen and highlight what resonates
