I'm now wondering if the comms team added the extra authorship details on purpose as they couldn't push back any other way?
Congratulations to our 2024 medicine laureate Victor Ambros ✨ This morning he celebrated the news of his prize with his colleague and wife Rosalind Lee, who was also the first author on the 1993 'Cell' paper cited by the Nobel Committee. #NobelPrize

Great to have hosted the PM and Chancellor at @STFC_Matters @DaresburyLab on Sunday. They saw STFC's SuRF laboratory and PsiQuantum. A great example how long-term investment in our national capabilities and our apprentices supports high-tech industry to deliver growth for the UK.

Really interesting! Anyone know of similar work for the UK?
📢New WP!📢 The Class Gap in Career Progression: Evidence from US Academia, w/ Kyra Rodriguez Class is rarely a focus of research or DEI in elite US occupations. Evidence suggests it should be: we find a large class gap in at least one occupation - tenure-track academia...🧵

Now that a general election has been called, I thought it was worth pre-emptively laying to rest some rumours that sometimes circulate about @ESRC rules on what ESRC-funded researchers supposedly are and aren't allowed to say during the ‘pre-election period’. (1)

An article published on April 7 mistakenly claimed that the Clapham chemical attacker Abdul Ezedi had been supported by the Church of England, and that this enabled him to 'beat the system'. We accept that Mr Ezedi is not known to have had any connections with the Church of

So very roughly we expect sewage in the sea to halved every 10-20 years?
If you are in your 30/40's and went paddling in the sea as child in the 90's there was at least 3x as much sewage in the sea as today. If you went in the sea in the 70s or 80s it was likely 5x higher, but nobody was really looking.

because getting something published, and in what journal, can be valued more than what it says.
Someone used DALL-E to create gobbledygook scientific figures and submitted them to Frontiers Journal. And guess what? The editor published it. LOL https://t.co/hjQkRQDkal

***METASCIENCE KLAXON*** In June I promised more about what works when it comes to funding research and innovation. So I'm delighted that today @SciTechgovuk are announcing a new metascience unit, to be jointly run with @UKRI_News, with £10m of initial funding.

Its easy enough to criticise roles like these, especially on cost grounds, if you don't appreciate the money that this can save you in the long run: https://t.co/J7gecbssZu

Almost 55,000 shopfloor workers involved in a major equal pay battle with Asda may have seen a significant boost to their case.
A Birmingham NHS trust recently advertised for a Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. The salary? £83,571 to £96,376 a year. Quite frankly an insult to taxpayers who are funding this nonsense. Slash these roles, and put the pay into pockets of frontline staff.
