When I was a kid, I often wondered why so many of my friend's fathers seemed so angry and were so difficult (my dad wasn't in the house at all). After 58 years of living in America as a Black man, I understand the trauma and scars which come from surviving racism a lot better.
This is why “Make America Great Again” is so insulting. It wasn’t great, for a lot of folks, for a long time. The country moved forward. Stop trying to drag us back.
