Bobby Shantz is 98. He's the last surviving player from Connie Mack's old A's teams. Mack's first season as a player was 1886. In 1890, Mack was teammates with Deacon White, who's first professional season was 1868. The lives of these 3 cover all of professional baseball history.
Valdez just turned 17. He's also from the Dominican Republic. Signing baseball cards is a totally new experience. Hell, signing much of anything might be a new experience. Again, he just turned 17. Trashing teen baseball prospects for sloppy handwriting is not a good look.
We just went over 4,000! In honor of this milestone, here is a Derek Jeter jersey relic card

Guarantee you that the majority of these people didn't stand with Colin Kaepernick in any shape or form. Or Kyrie's own commentary about systemic racism, for that matter. Kyrie's current situation is just a prop for their agenda.
@NBCNews
Isn't it something how religious conservatives are obsessed with the idea that drag queens and queer folks are "groomers" and yet over and over again, the actual stories end up pointing back to leaders in their own religious communities. Projection is one hell of a drug.
@Cubs_Live
I'm a Giants fan, so this move is big on our end. But it's gotta be tough for Cubs fans. Rizzo, Baez and Bryant all gone within a day. Really sad.

What an absolute joke.
@MLB
, you need to pressure Fisher to sell. This whole situation is an embarrassment. Not only do

fans deserve better, but baseball fans in Vegas also deserve better.
Nevada's Assembly speaker says the Oakland A's have not presented "concrete" language requesting $500 million in public money to help construct a stadium in Las Vegas, and if a proposed bill doesn't materialize soon the Legislature could "run out of time."
Deal of the day. Guy was selling mostly new cards, but had a small amount of vintage in his bargain box. I pulled all these and said, "What can you do for all these?" He looks through them briefly and says, "$15." Sold!
Here's a fun nostalgia

Tatis Jr, Vlad Jr, Acuna Jr, Soto, Bo Bichette, Devers, Albies ... all under 25 years old. We are blessed with so much young talent in baseball right now.
My dad saw a bunch of boxes of 80s cards at auction and showed me the photo listing. I saw some 84 Donruss and said "bid $80 for the whole lot." We got it and look: the entire 1984 Donruss set! Mattingly is off center, but I'm not complaining at all.

There are a lot of hobby train wrecks stealing our attention in card land right now. Lets do a thread to help counter this. Who are some of your favorite, trusted card collectors on Twitter? Tag them below so others can give them a follow.

My grandmother died early this morning. Today was her 75th anniversary with my grandpa, who's been gone over 30 years. Hope they are together right now.
She was my last living grandparent. My dad's mother died last month.
I'm still sometimes stunned that you can get certified autograph cards of many baseball HOFers for under $30. When I think about all the prospects that people blow much more money on who haven't panned out, it's kind of mind blowing.
I remember being a kid, seeing the 1978 Topps Eddie Murray RC at a card shop and thinking, "That would be so cool to have." I knew he was a good player, but otherwise I'm pretty convinced that my interest was because of the design. Now I have the whole set.

I purchased a bulk lot of about 150 random cards on ebay for about $7, including shipping. Saw some patch cards and an auto. Nothing amazing, but definitely worth the price. And then I found this: 2011 Topps Pro Debut Mike Trout RC. Still a little stunned right now. So cool!
When I started the weekly card giveaway thread, I was hoping to help build community and spread generosity in the hobby. Seeing exchanges like this one below makes me feel so happy.
I've had to sell off a lot of cards over the past year due under-employment & financial challenges. However, whenever I feel bad about it, I remind myself that I still have this giant box full of vintage, among other things. In other words, remember to love what you do have.
I don't talk much about this, but I was laid off from a fairly good paying job at the end of 2021 & haven't really recovered financially. However, I've continued to be committed to things like my weekly giveaway thread. Because community building + generosity are more important.
