More than just making amyloid What if mutations in PSEN1 also predispose inflammation. We asked if Alzheimer's disease mutations affect cytokine signalling using stem cell derived astrocytes. https://t.co/oW8ih6IlJ8

Mutations in PSEN1 cause familial Alzheimer’s disease with almost complete penetrance. Age at onset is highly variable between different PSEN1 mutations and even within families with the same...

I recently had a grant rejected, with one of the reasons being that a reviewer questioned my productivity over my post-doc thus far. 🧵1/5 https://t.co/sBPdvyvTSK

Excellent article demonstrating the precarious position of brain banks in the UK. More funding is desperately needed. BBC News - Bristol centre storing brains for dementia research could shut https://t.co/S2z3zKEX8h
bbc.co.uk
The centre is one of only six in England and stores donated brains for use in medical research.

This is the case for all UK brain banks. Many researchers want to use the amazing resources that brain banks have for vital research. These resources cost money to run yet funding agencies and researchers think they can run on thin air!! #pathologymatters
Staff at the South West Dementia Brain Bank, based at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, are at risk of losing their jobs, and the bank under threat of closure without further funding - donations needed.

Last day to apply! Often last minute applications get the job… (Please do not ask me why, I have no idea, it is just evidence based post hoc assessment!😅 )
💡 Closing soon: Exciting opportunity for 2 Research Associates in Circadian Biology to join @MarcoBrancacci4's lab! Investigating molecular cellular & circuit mechanisms driving circadian dysfunction in pre-clinical models of Alzheimer’s disease👉 https://t.co/4TMtxRERyD
