Today is 50 years to the day mum and I arrived in the UK to join dad and made it our home. We lived in #NHS accommodation while Dad was junior doctor. #NHS is an international family: saw that in theatre yesterday with folk from 6 nations 🇮🇳 🇬🇧 #noplaceforracism

@ShaunLintern It’s been less busy with consultations. inter speciality referrals cons- cons with less stress, less admissions and cons don’t need to consult each other. It’s a different way of working cons-led, common in obs . This model reduces admissions. Perhaps cons need to be in 24/7.

For women who gave birth via an elective caesarean section, black Caribbean women were 58% more likely to be given a GA compared to white women. Black African women were 35% more likely to be given a GA. Shocking inequalities. We should be ashamed of ourselves #maternity.

#covidvaccination in #pregnancy is safe #covid is not. My most vivid memories of the pandemic were seeing women in ITU. Vaccination is recommended if you are #pregnant.
Out today! The @mbrrace report on deaths in pregnancy 2019 - 2021…. 👉🏻 Of 241 deaths, 33 caused by COVID-19. 👉🏻 None of these were fully vaccinated (one partially vaccinated) even though 27 of them were eligible. 👉🏻 No deaths caused by vaccination. 1/ .

@elizabethduff2 @NCTcharity We need obstetricians who specialise in postnatal care. It is not even a subspeciality but has more risk than early pregnancy. We forgot about women and babies after birth. Society needs a review of where the risk lies #maternalmedicine #mentalhealth.

#pregnancy please get #vaccinated #covid we are seeing huge numbers of Covid positive #pregnant women who are regretting the fact that they have not been vaccinated as they feel dreadful. It is also hard for #maternity workers to see this. Vaccination is safe Covid is not.

@rach_dewey Agree with all your comments. The tired, overworked running around between the specialties is real & was worse 20 years ago pre shifts. For the record most obgyn, are not misogynistic, are women focused, stay in the profession & could write a book /blog about their experiences.

Definitely this. consultant led reduces inpatient admissions. We have to change the way we work. IA has shown different ways of working can be effective.
