The Prime Minister has told Classic FM that he wants to 'ensure that music counts' towards the curriculum. To do this, we need a fundamental overhaul of the accountability measures that have narrowed the curriculum and caused music's decline in schools.

👀👏.A first to hear this from an influential figure in education. More please!!.
@TsuiAllen @DrFautley @haringey_music Music is a statutory part of the curriculum. It's not an extra. 'If they're musical, there's opportunity after school' isn't enough. Developing every pupil's musicality is a statutory curriculum responsibility of every school. And that requires good classroom musuc teachers.
