Rams HC Sean McVay said he was happy for his ex-QB Jared Goff. I asked Matthew Stafford if he's happy for the city of Detroit, seeing as how he played his first 12 seasons here: "I'm happy for the players."
Followed
@showtimetate
to the locker room postgame.
He didn't just talk to & hug former teammates, but also their kids, fans, game day staff, and others that he had grown to know during his time here.
You can tell this city still means a lot to him.
Zavier Simpson wishes Nick Ward good luck as he heads back to the locker room after clinching Sweet 16 bid.
Other Michigan players did the same to MSU players as they waited to take the court for their game vs. Minnesota.
Shoutout to the
@Lions
and
@LionsPR
for the classy move in remembrance of Kirt Dozier, saving the spot he had for decades.
They also provided his family a credential so they could come share stories with us in the photo room.

That’s really, really good.
The
@Lions
need to hang that NFC North banner on January 7.
Let the players and coaches who made it happen see what it means to the city/state.
Let them feel what they’re playing for headed into the playoffs.
I am going to nerd out for a second:
It is so technically sound and beautiful. From the subject to camera distance, focus on his modified last name, exposure, depth of field, steadiness, constant focus, etc.
Everything... stunning.
Some personal news:
Today was my last day at MLive. It's been a ride. But, it's time for bigger and better things!
If you know someone who is hiring freelance photographers, let's chat!
Re: New LCA seats.
Alarming that they would rather spend millions to make the arena "appear" less empty than actually appeal to fans and, you know, lower the prices to actually put butts in them.
Izzo says in his press conference he wore gold and black in honor of his alma mater Iron Mountain, who is in the MHSAA D3 state championship game tomorrow.
Most people wonder how Cassius Winston has dealt with the death of his brother Zach, all while still playing at MSU.
But, what about Khy – the youngest brother – and Zach's teammates at Albion?
We are free to take pictures of anything. Peters injury, and how it is handled, is newsworthy.
I’m not employed by the university. I️ am not a PR machine. I’m there to shoot what happens. Photo. Journalist.
Want to boycott my work, etc.? Have at it. I’ll miss you, I’m sure.
@mulho2mj
No your paid to take pictures of the game. Have some decency and class to not take pics of a hurt player. That's the thing about photographers they think they are free to take pics of anything all for a buck.

By the time Ishbia and Gilbert are done, my captions will be:
“Mat Ishbia Head Basketball Coach Tom Izzo yells at a referee on Dan Gilbert Court during the second half of a MSU Spartans Presented by Rocket Mortgage basketball game at United Wholesale Mortgage Arena.”
MLive found the trip worth doing either yesterday or today, depending on the outcome of UM’s game. I’m thankful for that.
A Detroit paper decided to not send a photog to either site.
Yes, I cover 8 high-profile teams, alone. I bust my ass doing it and try to do the best I can.
My photo of Moe Wagner consoling Houston players after the buzzer beater was used as a double truck for the NCAA’s spring 2018 Champion magazine.

Rest in peace, Kirtmon Dozier. He was a photographer at the Freep for decades and truly one of the best people.
He taught me so much in this career and I will cherish the times we spent on the sidelines together in Detroit and all over the country.
Will miss you dearly, Kirt.
I mean, he was in front of me in the drive thru at the Chick-Fil-A near the team facility Saturday morning and got a bunch of food for himself and teammates.
So I’d say he was at the facility.
@JasonLaCanfora
just said on TV that Kenny Golladay wasn't at the team facility on Saturday. He said they had to track him down. He wants a new contract.
CAREER UPDATE:
Effective today, I am no longer MLive’s sports photographer. I have been transferred a new “statewide team” within the company.
To my understanding, this means a substational reduction in photographing sports and more covering statewide issues.
