The US tariff rate has reached its highest point in 115 years. Costs are rising and supply chains are weakening. That is unacceptable. Understanding how tariffs will impact Michigan’s economy will help us respond, protect our economy, and lower costs for Michigan families.

At a time when families and businesses need more economic clarity, Republicans in Washington are creating widespread uncertainty with tariffs. Today, I’m taking action. I’m signing an executive directive to investigate and report the impact of tariffs on Michigan’s economy.

On Monday, the courts affirmed - the only people who should make decisions about your health, are you and your medical provider. Here in Michigan, I will never stop fighting like hell to protect women’s fundamental right to make decisions about their own body.

As we celebrate 60 years of these programs, we honor Michiganders like Rep. John Dingell, who stood on the House floor as Medicare became law, fighting to ensure every American could get the care they need.

Here in Michigan, Medicare and Medicaid cover millions of people, including 3 in 5 nursing home residents and nearly half of all births in our state. These programs save lives, lower costs, and keep families healthy.

This move that will: .❌ Kick hundreds of thousands of Michiganders off their care .❌ Increase hunger and poverty .❌ Drive up costs for EVERYONE. Health care isn't a luxury. It isn't a privilege. It's a basic right—and I will fight like hell to protect it.

But right now, these lifesaving programs are under attack. Just weeks ago, Republicans in Washington passed the largest health care cut in American history.

Families are already feeling the pinch, they shouldn't have to pay more for the backpacks, notebooks, and shoes their kids need to succeed. Let's stop forcing parents and teachers to pay more for basic supplies. It's time to put our kids first, not tariffs.

Michiganders work hard and deserve a fair shot to give their kids the tools they need to succeed. Back to school season shouldn't be another financial burden. Cutting tariffs on school supplies is common sense, and it would give families, teachers, and kids a much-needed break.
