But there is so much more to do. CT is not good enough to identify early PDAC, we are far from understanding the mechanisms of PDAC related diabetes and we don’t understand why some get it when others don’t. £2 million is a great start tho!.

This is exciting for an area I spent 3.5 years studying for my PhD. I was grateful to @PancreaticCanUK for funding my studies into the biological mechanism of pancreatic cancer related diabetes to inform early detection strategies.

I don’t personally have an opinion for or against the bill, but I do think it means I need to consider a whole new dimension to looking after patients.

Already relatives ask “can’t you give them something to end it all” and we can stand behind the phrases of “that is illlegal but we can and are focusing on reducing suffering and maintaining comfort and dignity”. How we have these discussions is now going to change a lot.

Medical care is going to feel very different and we are going to have to learn how to have very difficult and careful conversations with patients.

The passing of the assisted dying bill means all of us as drs have to do a lot of introspection about our personally and professionally approach; how we will discuss this with pts; teach students skills around it; by who, where and how the will care needed will be delivered?.

A great opportunity to look at how we can improve earlier diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in primary care. We need to push our efforts for this right out into the community and not leave the implementation science at the point of delivery to the last minute as an after thought!.

Is there any evidence for risk of gallstone formation in GLP1RA use and need for prophylactic cholecystectomy (like seen with rapid weight loss in bariatrics)? Seeing lots of GS panc post initiation…maybe biased view?.
