*Actual surprise/irony after coming home yesterday from that second half was finding out that the director Sudheesh Sankar is listed in the Hema Committee report. Story, Screenplay, Dialogues, and Creative Director are credited to V Krishna Moorthy btw.
#Maareesan getting rave reviews only to shockingly find out director Sudheesh Shankar is a named predator in Hema committee report! Maybe that's why it’s in Tamil & not Malayalam 🤷♀️. Leave it to our stars to keep enabling such perverts! . FaFa - Dileep & now Sudheesh. Sickening!

I wish Fahadh had been given more to do than just continuing his cute thief act from Vettaiyan. Singer Vadivelu is a delight as always, and an actor like him could've done so much given the weight of the real issues in the second half, but he was limited to basics without nuance.

I initially thought Maareesan would complete the 3 dragons template of the year alongside Tourist Family and Paranthu Po, but it disappointed me unexpectedly*. The first half is fun, but the overall journey didn't elevate it to something unforgettable or transcendental for me.
