There is a difference between political reality and political aspiration. We have one head of State and that remains the case. Northern Ireland, legally, politically and by reality remains fully part of the United Kingdom. This is exactly what the Belfast (Good Friday)

Part of (see: 99% of) the problem is that Unionists are coddled and endlessly told that being "offended" by a language is a normal, reasonable reaction. Ask what the issue is, and it's "Er, Sinn Féin. And the IRA. Both, even. Simple as." Bigotry isn't a legitimate concern.
