My JUCO coach drilled this into us: The 3 B’s of defense—Ball, Base, or Backup. You’re always doing one of them. Everybody moves on every play!

I had a paper route, worked at a gas station, bagged groceries, packed tomatoes, to name a few. These types of part time jobs are rare for today’s youth. The value of work taught me as much as any classroom. That’s where coaches have to take over and instill these values.
