My Canes Tri-State travel team this fall will be 15U. We have players from CT, NY, RI, MA & NJ. If interested please let me know we have 3 roster openings. The team is 216-22 since I started it 3 years ago. U will be developed, have great arm care & will not be overused!.

Parent wants his kid to play for my 14u team, but says we don’t do enough national trips. I said we really don’t need to at this age. He said we have too so the D1 Coaches can see him & he can get an NIL deal. I tried to educate him, but wasn’t going well. I wished him luck.

How many more youth pitchers need to get Tommy John Surgery before we figure out a better way! I have my reason why this is happening, like to hear what others think about the rise of TJ surgeries for youth baseball players!.

Can’t believe how many programs add the word National to their team name. I see hundreds & hundreds of travel teams that say they are national teams. I understand Canes National & SBA National & Some Others, but some just blow my mind. Do parents/players really buy into this?.

There are so many pretenders in travel baseball this summer, it’s draining to see. There are so many teams the talent pool is so watered down everywhere you go. Some of these organizations will have no clue how to navigate for the players when they want to go to college.

Saw a 14 year old kid throw 95 pitches game one this weekend and game two he was back out at SS for the entire game. Kid was a good arm in the high 70’s. If it was our guy he would be DH’ing next game, but that’s just how we do it. Thoughts on this or opinions?.

We played 6 games in 4 days this week at a PG in NY. I threw 12 pitchers only one kid threw in the 70’s for pitch count. We made it to the semis. Told the umpire in the 5th inning this is it we aren’t using anymore arms. We ended early and went home and I feel OK about it.

At a PG this weekend and seeing 14u travel teams just talk non stop 💩is just draining. I tell my guys on us and other coaches don’t say a word. Every year it’s getting worse and worse & some of the umpires can careless. Makes for a long 4 days!.

Pitchers if you have a half way decent breaking ball/slurve that’s slower than your fastball that you can throw for a strike at anytime you are going to get a lot of hitters out no matter how hard you throw. I see it every weekend.

Watching all the IG posts of players posting their top pitching speed at PG this weekend. Then looking at stats, they walked more guys than innings pitched and gave up tons of hits and lost the game. What are we doing?.

Dear Perfect Game stop with the Wood Bat Tournaments. There is no reason 8th and 9th graders or any high school kids for that matter need to swing wood bats. Don’t colleges swing BBCOR, stop trying to speed up the game!.

I want to know you can play the game of baseball on the baseball field during a real game. Too many cage hitters out there as well as pitchers who throw hard inside facilities but when they go into a game the Velo is down by 5 or more MPH and they can’t throw strikes.

I wonder what person came up with the idea of an 8AM Baseball Game? Whoever it was could not have been a baseball player!.

Parent calls me & wants his kid to be able to play for my 14u team. I said why the move? They throw my kid too much each week. I said how much? He said 150 pitches every week. Did u say anything to the coach? No b/c Coach said if you ask about pitch counts your off the team.

Here’s a good one. Playing in a 2 day tournament July 5/6. The tournament will only supply 4 baseballs per game, so if you need more the teams have to supply it if they want. Tournament was 900 dollars.

Had my son work with Coach Matt this week, always good to get a new voice. I don’t recommended many people but Coach Matt is very good!.

Now that summer is in full.Swing you see travel teams maxing out pitchers pitch counts to get through tournaments without any concern for the players arm health! Some of the pitch counts are astonishing! Development over Winning? Thoughts.

My 14u travel team playing 5 out of state tournaments in NY this summer. Doing the math just for travel costs, Hotel (12 Nights), Ferry, Gas and Food, I estimated about $7000-$7500 per family. I need to find a better solution for them! Won’t happen this fall I can promise that!.
