Most people in academia know that predatory publishing isn’t just a problem on the fringes It’s propped up by reputable researchers, universities, and ranking systems that turn a blind eye as long as the numbers look good. It’s uncomfortable to admit, but the ecosystem thrives

I have my own experience. Same paper, different affiliations. With my PhD affiliation (UK): 3–4 submissions, no desk rejections. With my current affiliation (Indonesia) multiple desk rejections, even from lower-ranked journals. Finally manage to publish it, after 12 attempts.
