Helping to plan the world’s most iconic transport network - @tfl (views expressed are my own). Amateur pianist, Keen hiker.

New entrance to BPS on the NLE. Station now increasingly busy on weekends so this will help to massively ease entry and exit flow. This also provides a more direct route to shopping areas and Battersea Cats & Dogs home.

Quick ride on the new Bakerloop (BL1). Overall quite impressed. At certain times of the day there will be a noticeable journey time improvement. Main challenges are service getting stuck behind other buses and obstructions in bus lanes.

Hello from Bergen 🇳🇴 The modern route was finished in stages from 2010-2017 and now stretches 28km from the City Centre to the airport. Those who know their tram vehicles will also recognise these from Croydon…

Morning work event at the @ltmuseum. Always incredible to see this area of London without the crowds.

This is very old news but it highlights the importance of connectivity in the choices of where people live. We must continue building homes with access to public transport as the key focus.

A house in London 500m away from a train station costs 8% more than a similar property 1500m away.

As ever - these graphics are often the most useful for navigating the upcoming strikes. It’s worth saying that in some cases a skeletal service on LU may still run, so check before you travel.
RMT plans strikes on the London Underground (7–11 Sept) and DLR (9 & 11 Sept), with bus strikes later. Transport for London urges suspension of strike action and advises passengers to check updates and plan ahead due to expected severe disruption. https://t.co/igmm1m6PKF

It’s SO good to see we’re finally advertising this interchange to the Elizabeth Line at Oxford Circus. It’s been a huge missed opportunity for ages.

A long but enjoyable ride on the 43 bus from London Bridge towards Friern Barnet last night. Route goes via Bank / Moorgate, Angel, Islington, Holloway, Archway, Highgate and Muswell Hill.

A new station at Brixton on the Windrush Line seems like an absolute no brainer from a demand perspective - but unfortunately engineering constraints mean the new station would cost in the region of £120 million to build.

Choral concerts in the old tunnel shaft of Brunel’s famous Thames Tunnel in Rotherhithe. The acoustics are out of this world, you just have to put up with a Windrush Line train every 3 mins.

Unless new funding mechanisms can suddenly appear - the focus it’s going to be making sure that we keep what we’ve got running and running well + also maximising the potential of the bus network.

Unfortunately this is a bit of right place, wrong time for the BLE. Longer stretches of new tube tunnel are a hard sell in this economic and political climate. Government can’t be seen to be prioritising London over others, especially given Liz Line, NLE etc
London is the best city in the world. But in the 100 years since it first entertained extending the Bakerloo line, it hasn't been able to get it built. It is the richest city in Europe, but goes with a begging bowl for investment to Whitehall. Why?

Stellar performance from the incredible @glyndebourne cast last night performing the Mozart’s comedy opera ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ at the @bbcproms. The promming arena was packed!

Not that I want to play politics, but if we can no longer justify the business case for @Crossrail2, how do we expect to be able to fund this? Doesn’t Manchester already have an extensive tram network?
I am pleased to report, at today’s meeting of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, approval was given for work to begin on the development of a plan for an underground system for Manchester. 🐝

Every city and every council should be funded and empowered to have its own skilled, proud in-house team like this. Brilliant.
This superb piece of public transport architecture stopped me in my tracks today. It’s West Croydon Bus Station: the work of @tfl’s internal architects team. Feels generous, safe, permanent, uplifting. Usefully integral cafe, staffroom & info office too. Won @RIBA award in 2017!
