BTW. The vehicles of the current royal train are designated heritage assets: some clever, decent and informed people called the Railway Heritage Designation Advisory Board will find the best homes for them There’ll be more news before too long, I expect.

Farewell to the latest incarnation of Britain’s Royal Train, with vehicles of 1977-1987 vintage. Like its predecessors, it is not owned by the Royal Household but is provided by a railway company; (latterly @DBCargoUK,perhaps fittingly, of German origin :))

Direct @GWRHelp train from Paddington to Paignton: DSR steam trains connects at adjacent platform, Devon Belle observation car past beaches and along River Dart, lunch in Dartmouth and a river cruise too. Two large steam locos run most summer days. A complete holiday in one day😍.

Other “this is normal railway people behaviour” included Michael bringing his 5” gauge Britannia in for experiment & repairs (should be out this coming Saturday)… and Hanny transporting a 5” gauge steam locomotive tender on the back of a bicycle via the Met, from Wembley🤯
