So Morgan Reilly a worse Defensmen then Dougie Hamilton whose got more term on his contract fetches a top six forward and Dougie is just a cap dump yeah I’m so sure.
Morgan Rielly for a top six forward and Dougie Hamilton as a cap dump would be a nice sequence of moves for Brad Treliving.

Cap space for the first time in over half a decade isnt a real asset, to get something back you gotta give something of tangible value Fitzy has won more trades then he’s lost during his tenure but we haven’t seen him succeed yet when the playing field looks like this.
I don't think Fitzy was ever going to swing big in UFA. He seldom has. I expected free agency to be for the bottom 6, and I expect him to take at least one big swing on a trade for a top 6. I think what's made it hard is the proportion of delusionally optimistic teams.

Palat is getting cap dumped for a mid round pick, and Dougie is getting traded for a forward in the 4.5-7m range allows them deadline flexibility able to avoid bridging Luke, how Fitzgerald needs to show he’s changed is by attacking and not reacting mid season.
The important thing about the Devils moves today is that they didnt commit a lot of $ going forward. Someone is moving though cause Luke is getting paid after all these insane D contracts.
