A Jonathan Marchessault type top six forward. A two-way threat, who's an equally good playmaker/scorer. Someone that could fit in a bunch of different spots, alongside Matthews or Tavares. But most importantly, is an animal come playoff time, an absolute dawg who will step up.

The only player I think that needs to be moved before opening night is Kampf. He's not the 4C anymore and makes too much to be a healthy scratch. Quillan is waiver exempt and is only $875K to be the fill-in depth C. Jarnkrok/Robertson are perfectly fine to keep around as options.

Knies-Matthews-Domi.Maccelli-Tavares-Nylander.Joshua-Roy-McMann.Lorentz-Laughton-Jarnkrok.Pezzetta. I'd be pretty content if that's the opening night lineup. Still need another top six F but that's a great two-way 3rd line that should ease Matthews (and Tavares) defensive burden.

Joshua's acquisition likely puts to bed any chance of Roslovic signing with the Leafs. Roslovic was an interesting flier given his offensive skill, but didn't make a ton of sense from a lineup stand point. I'd expect Kampf to be moved soon now though, just too many bottom six Fs.

Joshua-Roy-McMann should be one of the best third lines in the league. That's a line that could win you a Stanley Cup. No one under 6'2", no one under 200 lbs. All defensively responsible, all dawgs.

Joshua for a 4th is just some insane work from Treliving. He really struggled this past season, but was coming off an offseason where he was diagnosed with cancer and had surgery to fix it. He's 6'3", and in 2023-24 he scored 18 goals and finished 7th among forwards in hits.
