I taught Marketing class at NYU SCPS in 2012 (M.S. degree) and MAN, do I have some stories about the foreign nationals in my class. Maybe for a memoir or something. Got in trouble for asking too many questions….
Chinese student numbers in the US are down -40% since pre-pandemic highs, and now Trump wants 600k Chinese students in the USA. Let's look at the data. It is:.—+34% of all international students.—2.75x the ~218k Chinese students in the US today. Unprecedented influx of students.

HOB was my album of 2011. In rotation with Drake Take Care, Watch The Throne, Frank Nostalgia Ultra, Kendrick Section.80, Childish Gambino Camp, Long Live A$AP, M83 Hurry Up We’re Dreaming, James Blake debut, Adele 21… Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Metronomy, etc. Great year of music.
Hot Take: this is the most important R&B album post 2010. I have it just slightly over “Trapsoul” and way above “Nostalgia, Ultra”.

Quibi 2.0. I think this has a real chance?
People still dunk on the idea of Quibi but there are multiple Chinese-based short form video drama platforms that are making tens of millions off American consumers. Most of the grocery store smut variety, but still. An emerging business model that no one’s really acknowledging.

This was a trick question, btw. We all know what the real answer is: . Advertising. Every business at scale eventually turns into an ad network. Or sells customer data to brokers… for advertisers.
So are consumer facing LLMs going to spike in price eventually, post-growth phase when they are subject to normal market forces (vs VC funding)? . Like how $100 Uber rides used to be $15 in the ZIRP era? Is my $20 ChatGPT sub eventually going to cost $300?.

Having “multiple streams of income” used to be wealth coded. Now that same language is used by people who are just trying to make rent or build a basic emergency fund for themselves. This happened pretty quickly post-pandemic. More money printing will make it even worse.
Folks don’t talk about this enough. Having different streams of income is the considered the minimum to “survive” in this economy.

"The future is already here — it's just not very evenly distributed". (For automotive, this means China).
The more Chinese car reviews I watch, the more I want to short the entire Western car industry. With the Xiaomi SU7 you get:.•Ferrari-level exterior design (basically a Purosangue rip-off).•German-level interior finish.•Tesla-like performance, range, and UX. All for 50% less

Have also been waiting a decade+ for Amazon to offer a Physical book + Kindle book + Audible recording discounted bundle packages. I realize this is a pipe dream. They need product innovation now that Spotify and others are offering audiobooks as part of streaming subs.
True sign of corporate stagnation is that Amazon, who basically owns the ebook market, still has not integrated an LLM into their ebooks where you can select passages from the book and talk to the LLM about them.
