Our study on the TikTok algorithm and eating disorders is finally published (big thx 2 @emilya_harris). We scraped the metadata for ~1 million TikTok videos delivered to users w/ eating disorders versus users w/out eating disorders (i.e. healthy controls) https://t.co/T3CJg0buKo

Australia may say âgame overâ to gambling ads! đ˛đŤÂ But whatâs actually at stake here? Our new article explores how an array of stakeholders profiteer from online sports betting by exploiting masculine norms of risk-taking and competitiveness. Curious? âĄď¸ https://t.co/ChI95g4BBz

âItâs time that we really started to work on prevention ⌠itâs a totally inadequate approach thatâs just not cutting the mustard. Teaching seven-year-old boys to ârespectâ women is not stopping women from being murdered now.â @SummersAnne

There's a small but vocal group of men who come across something on the radio or television they disagree with, and find our email addresses to give us a piece of their mind. Gents, we don't read it. It all goes straight in the đŽ. Who has time. Go for a walk. Pat a dog.

Findings highlight the value of training and reflective practice early on for psychology trainees, to address any biases about "the way men are" and what masculinity means in therapy. Thankfully @Movember provides just the training for the job with https://t.co/MkZ9lhPtYk đ

Drawing on analysis of in-depth interviews with 12 clinical psychology trainees, we found that often therapists approached male clients expecting reluctance to engage, emotional distance, and generally 'difficult male clients'.

A massive wake-up call. A meta-analysis of attitudinal approaches to sexual violence prevention finds "there is little to no relationship between changing attitudes, beliefs, and knowledge and reducing victimization or perpetration".

Domestic violence increases around sporting events because drinking increases. Word games over whether alcohol is a "cause" of violence or "increases the likelihood" (which means the same thing) lets sporting codes off the hook for taking alcohol sponsorship & adverts.
âAddressing the national crisis of violence against women is everyoneâs responsibility, and sporting codes and clubs have a really critical role to play.â @Kate_FitzGibbon @OurWatchAus @kirstyforsdike

But injecting a new online campaign into the void to counter the position held by misogynist influencers is a step in the right direction, but not sufficient. We need to understand the needs being met by figures like Andrew Tate in the lives of young men, and 2/3

Pleased to see this! We cannot expect schools to shoulder the responsibility here. Whatever boys are taught in schools could easily be undone through exposure to hours of content normalising violence against women on TikTok. 1/3
