Some Starship Superheavy heat shield related thoughts in light of the recent successful testlaunch.
@culpable_mink @LucasSa54749430 @elonmusk IMO current tiles are too big. They can't reuse the metal hulls strength & need to redundantly provide their own strength => more mass. The porous interior has structural rigidity competing with thermal insulation. Microtiles on glasswool underpadding factor that apart.

A cool😎old 👴idea💡that current day technology is just not ready for. But future tech will be.💎⚙️.
If you mount a bearing.inside a bearing.inside a bearing.inside a bearing,.does that mean it can spin. ONE MILLION RPM?!?. Turns out the answer is "yeah, maybe". (Btw, this idea has been around for over 100 years)

IMO a good take on AI risk.
@lwoodhouse I am in the process of writing it up, but the basic case against AI doomerism is laid out here:.

Paste printing & PCP pumps.
@R2rule1 @CNC_Kitchen I had tried that once for dough. It did not work well due to too ….★ high viscosity.★ bad pneumatic anti-leverage.★ bowden driving piston with fishing line.➡️ even nigh syringe breakage only snail slow printing with 8mm orifice.➡️ no precise flow on/off control.

Nano-gemstone (≈crystolecule) based metamaterials may one day give us the most incredible and variety rich material properties for indoors & weatherproof outdoors too.
@mooreth42 @mooreth42 - found it - (1/2) The analogy is not totally direct as the reusable microcomponent voxels as example here have altready mixed materials (analog to mixed colors). Also microcomponents can have more shapes than truncated octaheda whereas pixels are almost always square.

Some brief AI & (programming) language related thoughts.
@disconcision @stevekrouse @gfodor @karpathy I like thought about this perhaps improvable analogy:.No matter how intelligent & ever present the parents (here ~AI) it does not obsolete the children (~humans) needing to learn to speak. Otherwise the parent's can fulfill noting much beyond the childrens very base needs.

A 😎 new emergent small scale 3D printing technology based on 🔬y:.Perhaps eventually extendable from 2.5D to true 3D?? .Cheap tweezers scale high resolution parts in large quantities would be 🤩 for larger partnumber scale microrobitic system prototyping.
@lhinderling @PertzL My rather specific interest would be building & tinkering with macro-micro mesoscale robotic pick-n-place systems that are assembled from a subset of the parts that they can pick-n-place.

And how it looks inside:.
@MarwaEldiwiny @GoingBallistic5 I found the guts of these wrists in these patents:.I count 14+(4hidden) bearings and 12 bevel gears.

Video of an other one that had me impressed:.
@MarwaEldiwiny @GoingBallistic5 0.5mm pencil lead insertion M-1iA/0.5A (6axes).

Interesting robotic sholder and/or wrist mechanism.
The Orbit Actuator. The ball-and-socket joint has been one of engineering’s toughest challenges. CNPRND took it head-on and cracked it. Scott @GoingBallistic5 sat down with the CNPRND team to unpack what makes this game-changing for robotics. Video:

Refering to these:.Still prelty room for improvements. Arbitrary user supplied thread (or spline) porfiles don't work yet, but all old functionality is present.
