For the record, I have been calling it Optimus 2.5 for months now. Or Optimus refresh. Nice to know the term is now official.

@teslaownersSV That’s Optimus 2.5. Optimus 3 will have agility roughly equal to an agile human.

Based on the wrist design alone I don't have high hopes for this one. How many times do I have to make the same joke: is that a wrist or a second elbow?.

.@ericjang11 is spearheading AI at 1X. Eric believes 1X is on the path to becoming an AGI company — not just a robotics company. I sat down with him at 1X’s new Palo Alto office to discuss the key AI building blocks needed to bring humanoid robots into homes at scale. 00:00

There is a raging debate over sensory modes and redundancy . How much is enough and is sensory overload an issue. Perhaps the key is redundant modes are the fabric that hold actions together to solve long term planning. Think fascia.

Currently the only 3 DoF X-Y-Z waist design I've seen. PNDbotics always dances to their own tune.

The current generation of roboticists grew-up on Lego Mindstorm. The Reachy Mini is for the next generation. Bravo!. BTW: By sheer coincidence @MarwaEldiwiny and I are visiting LeRobot tomorrow and will have a firsthand look.

Actuators eat up 30-50% of a humanoid robot's BOM cost. Mass adoption? Not at these prices. This is one of the most persistent challenges in robotics, but @IMSystemsNL may have cracked the code with a novel drive. To understand it, we need to dive into the world of drives &

💯. "why and what you actually want it to do.". They lost the plot when forgetting the first rule:. Make the requirements less dumb. Folding T-shirts are not essential to factory automation . While the 11 DoF hand removed too many parts, the 22 DoF added unnecessary complexity.

Generalist robots are hard, and there are consequences to just going for the human form factor without thinking about why and what you actually want it to do. But I am confident tesla can improve their design.
