Shocking to come here from Malta: people wear masks on public transport,in shops, restaurants, shared inside areas. You are told if you forget. A sense of responsibility. On the train to London hardly anyone with a mask. At Liverpool Street station the same. What have we become?
I am deeply moved by this. He was hounded to death by the British tabloids. He took his own life in an arch in East London. He appeared in my documentary about discrimination in the early 1990s. His life was wasted by others. A man of immense talent and courage.

I am deeply moved but I feel a deep anger. Some LGB people who lived thro that period are now visiting the same stigmatisation, misrepresentation and dehumanisation on trans-people particularly trans-women. They have learnt nothing. Nothing.
Never forget otherwise history will ensure we are dumped on. This newspaper was never on your side, it supported chaos and division knowing that interest rates would rise, inflation would rise and cuts in public services and support for the vulnerable would follow. Never forget.
I must apologise. I don’t think I made it abundantly clear that despite bullying or trolling or whatever else the desperate wish to engage in; No LGB without the T. I repeat and repeat; no LGB without the T. Together. Only together.

In one speech on one afternoon the USA regained liberty, integrity and courage. On that same afternoon the British government suddenly looked old, leaderless and shabby.
I can’t trust Corbyn or the people around him on the defining issue in postwar Britain so on Thursday I will not be voting for the Labour Party. As Matthew Paris said, I am not a Liberal Democrat, but I support their absolute consistency. Voting Libdem in the EU elections.
I say this with great sadness and more than a hint of depression: I am no longer shocked by the absence of morality within this Conservative government. It is wrapped with an arrogance of utter disregard for common decency or moral principles in public life.

This is wonderful news. This is why the newspapers hate this man and his wife. Congratulations Harry you’ve shown the courage to stand up to press and media abuse of power. Time to hold our press and media up to the standards of a modern democracy.

I doubt we will ever be forgiven.
There are many to blame for today. But one ineradicable fact remains. If Labour had any other leader but Jeremy Corbyn since 2015 Brexit would not have played out as it has. Millions now struggle to sustain their loyalty. The coalition that is Labour has never felt so fragile.
Anyone who has a problem with this flag in its entirety really shouldn't be following me. We wouldn't get on if we ever met. Best to leave now before you embarrass yourself.

We must stop this inhumane, far right draft legislation from becoming law. It is an affront to decent values and the rule of law and will make the UK fragile, bitter and uncivilised. How we treat the vulnerable, minorities and the misrepresented ultimately defines us a country.

The Labour Party must defend the Good Friday Agreement, it must remain within the Single Market and must have the courage to lead the country out of this enveloping tragedy, and face down these Tory extremists. We owe it to our country or we are nothing.
The brilliance of Tony Blair. No one to match him in British politics.
Brilliant when he says regardless of whether people listen or not, it is vital to speak out. To stand up. To be counted.
“Brexit is based on a colossal myth - that Europe controls our laws. In fact, virtually any decision that affects the practical life of British people is decided not in Brussels but here in Britain. The NHS, education, crime, taxes, welfare, pensions, defence.”

Just because silence is best broken by what matters most: I will forever and with my last breath fight for trans equality. Equality protects us all. No superior rights just each standing beside the other. Together. Only together. And off I trot into Twitter silence.
You are utterly shameful. Double standards up to the ears. If this had been about any other political party, or probably contender, the story and your take would be very different. You shame the very profession of principled journalism.

There is a well funded, concerted attack on organisations that supports trans-people. The latest attack is on the brilliant organisation

The attacks will then go on against LGBQI people. It is despicable & that it comes from some LGB quislings is unforgivable.
In the 1980s a gay character on TV would routinely be branded a ‘sleazy homosexual’ by the tabloids.
It was an act of considerable courage to take on such a role - all praise and thanks to Michael and to Gary Hailes.
We have come so far since then.
Representation matters.
There have always been trans women. Alongside each and everyone of us, alongside other women. For generations. With no issues. Hate is new and alien.
Until the end I will stand with my trans sisters, my trans brothers and their families. Until the end. We will achieve equality.
There were trans women at Stonewall.
There were trans women at the first Pride rally in London.
There were trans women marching with me on Section 28 protests in the 1980s.

“This is a grubby government, bit thick, dodgy, like being run by a branch of low level estate agents ”.
“The European Union withdrawal bill is the worst legislation of my lifetime. It arrives soon in the House of Lords and I feel duty bound to oppose it relentlessly. Brexit is a populist and nationalist spasm worthy of Donald Trump.” My letter to the PM.
I’m breaking my Twitter silence to pay tribute to my dear, darling friend June Brown who died at home last night.
Below is something I posted on Instagram last night for her without naming her.
She took this country on amazing journey and helped to change it for the better. Love.
Maybe if Labour had handled this differently from the beginning or during the last two years we would be in a different place. Shocking lack of leadership from labour in the House of Commons.
We have offered no viable alternative or certainty.
I feel deeply ashamed.
If confirmed, this represents a serious blow to the communities that depend on the jobs Nissan creates and supports.
The Tories’ chaotic handling of the Brexit negotiations is having a devastating impact on business investment. It’s time ministers got a grip on this crisis.
Oh dear. Seems a lot of brexiteers on here do not like opposition. Well tough my darlings, I don’t buckle to threats, insults, except perhaps from my friends. The rights I enjoy I now I have had to fight against populist opinion to achieve. And I will continue.

I remember sadly how gay men were presented as a threat, a threat to families, children; section 28 bred upon that idea. Never forget, never remain silent. Together. Only together.
Scotland’s parliament passed the Hate Crime Act; its provisions protect freedom of expression with direct reference to article 14, ECHR.
When someone rich and famous believes they can flout the law by defaming an entire minority that they prove the case for the law.
I will forever stand with my trans friends, colleagues and the community. We will make Britain a better, nicer, inclusive place. Together. Only together.
#TransDayOfVisibility
If you stand against equality for trans people you stand against equality. The principle of equality; in order to enjoy the equal protection of the law you adhere to the equal obligation to the law.
We are all protected by the same principle. ALL of us.
Trans people fought for my rights and the rights of others because they knew and know that injustice diminishes every single one of us and equality protects all. Abiding by the same rules the same laws. Together I stand with the trans community. Together. Only together.
Incredible! Our world has changed and do not let the narrow Nationalists diminish it nor us. Defend the other defend the unwanted, defend the unfashionable and defend the unwelcomed. Together only together. Within the EU. Always within.
I’ve taken great joy tonight by blocking someone that I’ve associated with for 30 years. I cannot accept someone who promotes their business advising on inclusion and diversity and then sets about dismantling equal rights and protections for trans-people.
Hatred is toxic.
The people have spoken, or rather the media have spoken. But they have not spoken for me and I will continue to raise my voice against this most corrupt of politicians Boris Johnson, this selfish Conservative party and the self-destructive Labour Party of momentum and Corbyn.
What memories we have! How you stood up for what you believed in, you told it like it was, and nobody could tell it better!
You were always unashamedly you. Now light up the sky Savage, light up that sky. You made the world better.
Goodnight, and to trans people and your families I want to say that you are loved, you are valued, you make our lives better for being with us and us being together. I apologise for what uk has become, aided and abetted by a despicable media and a clutch of lesbians and gay men.
As every day goes past my decision to leave the Labour Party after 45 years is vindicated. I feel liberated that I’m no longer constrained by a small group of people for whom I have absolutely no respect.
EXCLUSIVE: Labour has launched a crackdown on whistleblowers ahead of bombshell BBC Panorama doc on antisemitism. Carter Ruck, their lawyers, have written to Sam Matthews, ex head of investigations, saying the party "will not tolerate" ex employees "wantonly disregarding" NDAs
As a founding member of Stonewall, I support their work on trans equality without reservation. Trans people face abuse and discrimination on a daily basis, and I am proud of the work that Stonewall is doing to support the rights and dignity of trans people in the UK and abroad.
Braverman is not fit for office.
A staggering level of ignorance of case law on LGBT discrimination.
HJ (Iran) and HT (Cameroon) v Secretary of State for the Home Department [2010] UKSC 31 is case of two men decided by the UK Supreme Court on the grounds of their homosexuality.
My last thought for the evening because during winter I love to go to bed early - on my own – I offer this image in defiance: in celebration of decency justice, fairness and equality. They will prevail. Those who promote inequality and discrimination are perverse and unnatural.
I wasn’t present for the debate yesterday in the House of Lords but I am deeply worried by the wilful and blatant misrepresentation and defamation of trans-women.
As someone who believes in equality I can never sacrifice the rights of others in order to maintain my own. Equality.
How Labour spent today. Abbott built support for a march against fascism on November 17, Corbyn flew to Geneva to discuss Chile, McDonnell plugged a meeting on October 20 to discuss fascism, Thornberry went to Crawley and had a "good discussion" about Brexit.
@RevRichardColes
And as you walk through the door so too does he. And when you mourn he does too: when you laugh we see him laugh. There is no sense to death except for the dying. There is no sense to life if we mourn. But if we grieve and celebrate the we give life.

Really interesting with the anti-trans-Brigade – who often protest that they are not anti-trans-– is their use of section 28 tactics. ‘Protecting others, protecting children, protecting people who don’t know better, protecting adults.’
They are protecting their bigotry.
We are so close to the 1930s with a lack of faith in political parties, the rise of maniacs or idiots with political charisma, and a media that attacks and demonises any opposition to its selected point of view. Speak out. Speak out
