How did I stumble upon this in 2023?!

@andrewsharp @benthompson I assume whatever Meta releases will be more user friendly than mastodon, and immediately mass market, unlike Bluesky. It continues to feel like a smart move by Meta to me, so would appreciate renewed discussion here.

Thanks for addressing this on the podcast, @andrewsharp! That was super fun to listen to. I think WhatsApp is an interesting candidate to expand into broadcast functionality.

If a lot of individuals and advertisers are looking for a new town square, I can’t think of another company better positioned to meet that need fast, either through changes to the Facebook app, or with a new standalone offering under the Meta umbrella.
