While most students reach out to the PI directly, there are many grad programs, which are structured & effective such as Max Planck Institutes (IMPRS program), EMBL, Uni Zurich, Biozentrum Basel, IST Austria and IMV Vienna. I’d highly recommend that. Also happy to answer any Qs.
Excited to be chairing the Harvard Medical Postdoc Association for 2021-22. Looking forward to push boundaries for our postdoc community with amazing colleagues. Join us in advocating for postdoc personal & professional lives

It's rather disgraceful. It is literally going back to the 1800s. This particular series reminds me of 80 women astronomers in 1880s who were reduced to mere computers. 1/3

We argue & suggest postdocs in the Boston area (&US) must be compensated considering geographical cost of living which
@NIH
does not consider. We propose a reasonable scale for postdocs pay in Boston area upon analysing cost of living.

supported postdoctoral trainees (directly + indirectly), together with institutions, we need to make sure postdocs are treated fairly. ACD 2015 made suggestions (see in the article) about equal benefits policy, which doesn't hold still.

Academia is a privileged place! Its a fact that postdocs end up leaving academia for financial reasons, let alone marginalised postdocs as its excruciating difficult with salaries we get. This report looks into how American postdoc salaries barely consider cost of living.
@NIH
New paper “American postdoctoral salaries do not account for growing disparities in cost of living” I found that real postdoc salaries vary by ~ 29% ($15k) depending on where you live (and your university)
