My dear father Gary Evans died of COVID-19/pneumonia complications Jan. 29. He was 70. I wrote for @latimes about what his death has meant for me as a daughter and health reporter. He was my biggest fan. I’ll be heartbroken until the end of my days.

Marissa Evans' father began 2022 eating apple pie and feeling like it would be their family's year. He died of COVID-19 before the end of January.

The best thing was seeing the news notification about this and then hearing the fireworks barely one minute later. 🙌🏾

Well, folks, personal news: After 7 years, today is my last day with @latimes. It's been a privilege working with some of the world's best journalists at my hometown paper. Thank you to everyone who's supported my work. I'm not done telling climate stories. More news to come.

I talk about Real Housewives being a great anthology series on women from different backgrounds at different levels of wealth, but it’s also a great study on the intersectionality or lack there of,of feminism&how women of different races/cultural backgrounds interact w each other

My father would’ve been 74 today. I would’ve made him pot pies for the freezer and we would’ve eaten burgers for lunch. 💛 Remembering I have years ahead of me where the calendar will be so unkind with the double whammy of his birthday and Father’s Day falling on the same day.

My dear friend Imani is one of the strongest, bravest and realest people I know. I admire everything she is and I absolutely believe every word she shared ❤️
What happened to me was deeply private, and I HATE talking about it. I only shared it publicly in hopes that it might help someone. The hardest part of this experience has been learning how many other women he hurt after me, in almost the exact same way. 1/5

I haven't been able to work for two months because of COVID and I'm still recovering. I need to raise more at least for cars to doctors appointments and a cane. I've barely gotten anything in a week, anything you can give helps (also v*nmo is ellybelle)

TLDR: We met up for drinks. I said I needed to go home. He offered to pay for my car so I’d stay longer. When I insisted, he went through the motions of asking for the address for my destination—then called the car to his home instead. It wasn’t miscommunication. It was a setup.

I’ll be offline for a bit to rest and take care of my nervous system. If you’ve messaged me and I haven’t replied, please know I’ve seen the love—and I appreciate it more than I currently have the energy to express. 5/5

Lastly, thank you to everyone who’s reached out to ask how they can support me. It took me a while to find an answer, but here’s what I need most right now: public support. 3/5

I showed this slack msg to a dean @AmericanU who knew I filed a Title IX report for Olivia & the researcher. I begged her to stop it, told her sexual assaults had happened after drinks. she told me she couldn’t do anything. it was sent to 9 female interns https://t.co/dsu1eloDeD
