I just had my first telehealth appointment in which the provider asked my consent to use a HIPAA-compliant AI notetaker. How did we get here before we got flying cars?

There is a woman in San Francisco who charges $30k to name your baby. She started at $100, but she was going to dinner with VCs and a friend told her to charge more and nobody blinked. The Bay Area might be the best place in the world for this kind of business.

Charles Scharf will make his public debut as Wells Fargo & Co’s chief executive during the bank’s quarterly earnings call on Tuesday, and those who have worked with him in the past say he is likely...
For example: When Charlie Scharf first took over as CEO of Wells Fargo, I wrote a story in which I got several people to effectively call him a jerk on the record. The stock has more than tripled since he took over.

In order to build Black wealth, Black businesses need to be covered with the same rigor and scrutiny applied to everyone else. Accountability is not betrayal. It’s protection. 🧵/end

And the most disappointing part? It’s working. Supporting black bunsiness shoudn't mean exploiting the people who believe in them.

By instructing her followers to “clear the shelves,” Weaver is effectively asking for a customer-funded cash infusion— again most likely from Black supporters. She’s asking for more money while offering no real explanation of how the last batch was handled.

Here's the thing: Black CEOs don’t need to be saints and they don't need to be everybody's little friend. They need to be good at their jobs. We can—and should—cover Black businesses without turning every story into a moral referendum on the individuals who run them.

Any one of those things alone is a red flag. Taken together, they paint a damning picture. But a lot of the public reaction has focused on her personality or the Black community’s loyalty rather than the numbers

A judge just put one of the buzziest Black-owned liquor brands under court-appointed receivership. That doesn’t happen over “salacious” rumors—it happens when there’s evidence of major mismanagement: like misstating inventory by $20M+ or defaulting on a $100M loan.
