I predict AI chat will be a viable competitor that will take significant share over next few years. Slowly at first and ramping up based on feedback, acceptance, and improvements across multiple dimensions (LLMs, TTS, hardware, UX, content licensing).

With LLMs beginning to acquire Her-like dialogue, what effect will it have on podcast consumption?. It won't be long until you can request a custom episode to match your commute length, even if you're not in the mood for a chinwag with the machine.

Be skeptical and always ask questions. Except when it comes from DogPoodle12984Bro's podcast dropping truth bombs - he's based and don't need to question anything pilled.

I rotate between different search engines and @bing is fine, but really needs bang syntax. Everyone be humble and redirect to Google with a !g.

Knowing that it's simply a bundle of text files, I'm not worried about enshittification. If devs suddenly triple prices or flip the table and shutdown servers, I just `mv` the root folders to host on a cloud drive. 2/2.

Obsidian subscription is expensive if you measure it in terms of bytes stored. Yet I'm happy to pay for the sync and to support development, but more interestingly there's a reason that rarely comes up with premium subscriptions: Data portability. 1/2.

Big missed opportunity by AWS. Placed too many roadblocks to even get started with Cloud9, the opposite of a seamless DX.

One thing I don't understand:. Cloud9 was one of the first remote development environments. AWS acquired Cloud9 and launched AWS Cloud9 (a cloud-based dev environment) in 2017. GitHub didn't launch Codespaces till 2020. So why isn't Cloud9 much more popular than it is?.

New behaviour just landed for me with ChatGPT. It tries to sense if I’m up for a convo and ends by asking me a question. This happens without instruction. Seems they’ve personalised the hidden instructions a bit since I have a lot of long conversations when learning something.

It’s batty the world converged on messaging in an app that only works on one device at a time (WhatsApp). We took the worst part of SMS and said great, let’s rebuild it on the internet!.

Now that ChatGPT has rolled out custom instructions to most users, try out this instruction -- it makes GPT 4 far more accurate for me: (Concat the rest of this 🧵 together and put in your custom instruction section)

Judging from comments, very few companies who went remote in pandemic stayed remote-first. In other words, big remote companies today had already embraced it before 2020. The short list of companies who actually switched to remote and remain so includes Shopify and Pinterest. I.

What are tech companies that continue to operate as full-remote / remote-first?. Given how return to office is so common across the industry: clearly those companies will have an easier time hiring (and probably also retaining)!.

ChatGPT cutoff date reminds me of early search engines, which were typically months behind, but evolved to near real-time. Though the LLM tech is very different, the user need is just as critical and I think it will push LLM providers to achieve same freshness over time.
