SEND does not mean misbehaviour, and misbehaviour does not mean SEND. Students with SEND can and should experience consequences for their actions, as long as reasonable adjustments and accommodations have been made. Having an SEND label does not provide a carte blanche immunity

My 13th #awesomewhy is @m_chiles. Michael is such an inspiring HT who is transforming the lives of so many children. His strategic approach and the culture he is creating is amazing. If I had a child, I would want them in his school. He has also given so many ppl opportunities
My 12th #awesomewhy is @MrGoodwin23 who is a brilliant writer and thinker. The quality of David’s T&L work is beyond anything I’ve seen and a lucky trust are reaping the benefits of having him as a serving leader with them. David is also very kind and supportive ⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️

Schools get lots of things wrong. Muddying waters re: parental responsibility & school responsibility one such area. 32.5 hrs pw. 39 weeks Pa. Approx 1265hrs Pa. The other 7.5k hours kids are their parents’ responsibility.
Kids in local shops/on buses on their way to & from school. This isn’t uncommon. Schools try to preempt/prevent this. They shouldn’t have to. It’s the role of parents to teach their children how to behave properly in public.

Does anyone else do this? You get to the supermarket and realise you forgot the bag for life… again. Cue the dilemma: • Do I buy yet another one? • Do I attempt the “juggle everything to the car” challenge? At this point we own about 6,000 bags for life 🤣

I'm really interested in developing something similar for primary. For us though, it's not the kids we need to value attendance, it's the parents. Not sure how to incentivise them in the same way. We already meet, offer free breakfast club places if this is an issue. Would love
***1% BETTER*** Improving attendance is a key focus for all schools right now. For students in the 90–95% attendance range, we’ve launched our “1% Better” strategy. Each identified student receives a card and is paired with a key adult in the school. Students get their card
