Thank you to @CMJulieWon ✨for spearheading this response letter to the current DYCD Literacy RFP and extending the thank you to the 42 city council members who signed on. DYCD needs to hear how detrimental the NTAs can be to serving the tens and thousands of adult ESOL students.

Well-said! There is no bigger commuter city than NYC. It's a shame that DYCD city funding is locking out programs and the tens of thousands of adult immigrants they serve by not being located within the designated NTA.
Our Adult Literacy Program serves New Yorkers from all 5 boroughs who travel to study with US. NYC needs to fund these programs in a way that effectively supports institutions doing the work. Thx to @CMCarlinaRivera + @ChrisMarteNYC for signing @CMJulieWon 's vital open letter.

City Council members have called on City Hall to fix a technicality that could cut off funding for 48 of the 67 adult literacy programs currently operating in the city.
City Hall's adult literacy RFP could prevent tens of thousands of New Yorkers with limited English proficiency, including asylum seekers, from accessing education, jobs, and other opportunities. That's why @althea4theBX, @CMAlexaAviles and I wrote to @NYCYouth with 38 colleagues.
